Patrick Carter is a Montana-born, award-winning actor and storyteller whose creative roots run deep, shaped in part by generations of fiction writers on his mother’s side of the family. That inherited love of storytelling fuels his fascination with possibility—the idea that there will always be more worlds to imagine, more perspectives to explore, and more to reality than what we already know.
That sense of exploration has shaped his work across independent film and network television, including experience on Yellowstone and 1923, along with an exciting slate of lead and supporting roles set for release throughout 2027. A University of Montana graduate, Patrick spent several years in Southern California working as a fitness trainer and in the tech industry before returning to Montana in 2019 to pursue acting full-time.
To Patrick, acting and storytelling are the closest we can come to truly living out our imagination—offering the freedom to step beyond the boundaries of a single life, embody people we may never become, explore worlds we may never visit, and experience things reality could never safely allow.
Patrick is especially drawn to creative horror and cerebral, psychologically driven stories that bend perception, challenge our sense of reality, and venture into the unsettling or unknown. For him, they offer a way to confront our deepest fears—and even our own mortality—through the safety and imagination of story.
That passion for horror recently found its way onto the screen in Dead Ringer, a short horror film created by Patrick’s team, Slop Shop Productions, for the 2026 Montana 48 Hour Film Project, in which Patrick starred in the lead role. His performance earned him the award for Best Actor, while Dead Ringer took home both Best Film of 2026 and Audience Favorite, sending the team on to represent Montana alongside city winners from around the world at Filmapalooza 2027.
Patrick is most inspired by stories that begin with something deeply human and then venture beyond the familiar, using compelling characters to keep even the most imaginative ideas emotionally grounded. At Mystic Scribe Studios, he is excited to explore stories where science meets mystery, reality brushes against the impossible, and familiar ideas can be viewed from entirely new angles—creating work that leaves audiences with curiosity, wonder, and a renewed sense of what might be possible.
Outside of acting and film, Patrick’s creativity extends to music. A longtime guitarist, he has written and performed original songs and continues to find inspiration anywhere imagination, performance, and creative expression intersect.
