Jeff Sommer-Zervos is a writer, editor, and filmmaker with more than twenty-five years of experience studying the craft of visual storytelling. His creative journey began in high school, writing fantasy stories and adventures for Dungeons & Dragons, eventually expanding into longer-form fiction and screenwriting.
As his interest in filmmaking grew, Jeff dedicated himself to understanding the elements that make stories work on screen, from character and dialogue to structure, visual storytelling, and the technical craft of screenwriting. His continued development included participation in ScreenwritingU's ProSeries Professional Screenwriting program, where he further developed his approach to writing for film.
Jeff's storytelling philosophy is refreshingly simple: “Just write.” He believes the first job of a writer is to get the idea onto the page, regardless of whether it's perfect, because the real magic of storytelling emerges through rewriting.
That same philosophy carries into his work in post-production. As an editor and sound collaborator, Jeff approaches the edit as another stage of storytelling, where performance, pacing, image, atmosphere, and sound come together to shape the final experience for an audience.
At Mystic Scribe Studios, Jeff brings both a writer's understanding of story and a post-production perspective to the creative team. His combination of storytelling experience, technical knowledge, and willingness to keep exploring a story until it finds its strongest form makes him an important part of the studio's growing creative community.
